Memorial Day Special

No Joining Fee For Veterans
May 28, 2018

This Memorial Day we’re waiving the joining fee for any Veteran interested in becoming a member of the YMCA. Come to any of our Memphis & Mid-South locations on May 28th and show your Military ID to pay no joining fee (a value of up to $75) when signing up for a new YMCA Membership.

In honor of Memorial Day, YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South branches will have abbreviated hours of 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 28th. The Sweeney YMCA will be closed.

All indoor and outdoor pools at all YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South branches will close at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday May 20th for an association wide lifeguard training. By providing this training, our association works to keep your safety in mind while preparing our aquatics staff for upcoming summer activities. INTRODUCTION TO WATER POLO
FOR CHILDREN

Ages 8 – 12
8 Class Sessions
5:30 – 6:15 p.m.

Splashball™ is designed to introduce the sport of water polo to children 8-12 years old. The intent is to provide basic skills and understanding of the sport in a recreational format. Although water polo is known for its toughness and endurance, Splashball™ harnesses all the fun, dynamic as-pects of the game in a safe, easy to learn aquatic experience that will motivate kids to swim and stay fit. See Splashball in action!

Developmental Swim Team

Has your child just graduated from swim lessons? Are they ready to try a swim team and learn the four competitive strokes? Our developmental swim team is the perfect start to have fun & learn. We offer 2 summer sessions: June and July including a fun swim meet at the end of each month.

Session 1: June 4 – June 30
Session 2: July 2 – July 28

Practice: M-Th  6:45 – 7:45 p.m.

Ages: 5 – 12

Members: $85
Non-Members: $125

YMCA Swim Team

Bluff City Bluefins Summer Swim Team

The Bluff City Bluefins are a recreational swim team offering instruction, training and competition to swimmers ages 5-19 years old. We participate in the Memphis Summer Swim League. The Bluefins are 11 times defending MSSL City Champions! Swimmers must be able to swim 1 length of the pool (any stroke) unaided.

Sign up now! Fee assistance is available for those that apply and qualify.

Season Dates: May 29 – July 28

Practice Schedule:
Morning Practice: M-F,  8:15 – 9:30 am.
Evening Practice: M-Th, 6:30 – 7:45 p.m.

Registration Fees:
$190 First Swimmer
$160 Additional Siblings
$25 Registration Fee (registration fee applies to 1st & 2nd child only – $50 max)

Splash Into Summer

Make a splash with swim lessons at the Nuber YMCA! Lessons are available for all ages including Pre-School, Youth, Adult, and Parent/Child.

These courses are designed to improve swimming skills over the course of 8 sessions! Days will vary during the two week period to accommodate other pool activities. Please check days carefully for your registered session. Lessons are available for all ages including Pre-School, Youth, Adult, and Parent/Child.

LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA

TAKING ACTION. CHANGING ODDS.

LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is a small-group program that helps adult cancer survivors reclaim their health and well-being following a cancer diagnosis. Through this program YMCAs are creating communities among cancer survivors and guiding them through safe physical activity, helping them build supportive relationships, and reducing stress – leading to an improved quality of life.

Upcoming Sessions:

Session 2: June 5 – August 23
Tuesdays/Thursdays – 8:00 a.m. – 9:15 a.m.

Session 3: July 9 – September 26
Mondays/Wednesdays – 1:00 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.

Session 4: August 20 – November 8
Mondays/Thursdays – 10:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.

Location: The YMCA at Schilling Farms
1185 Schilling Blvd. E, Collierville, TN 38017

Duration: 12 weeks

Cost: Free of Charge

The program consists of group exercise using cardio equipment and strength training machines, guest speakers, and more, all in a support group atmosphere. The program is open to the public and will be free of charge.

To become a part of this session participants need to be 18 years old and up. Participants with any type of cancer are welcome. They may be going through treatments or not — may even be long time cancer survivor that needs help getting back to their normal life.

Visit the Ric Nuber YMCA Library!

The Nuber library is a “take a book, return a book” free book exchange at the Welcome Center. Anyone may take a book or bring a book to share! You do not have to bring back the same book that you took from the library. Look for books in these categories: fiction, large print, board books, picture books and level readers.

The Youth Center is looking for gently used games and puzzles and Kids Corner is looking for donations of baby toys. Drop off any donations at the Welcome Center.

Training for a triathlon? Just want to get back into the swim of things? Master Swim is a adult, aquatics fitness program organized for the purpose of training, fitness and enjoyment of swimming.
