Youth Wellness Orientation

Ages: 10-15

The Youth Wellness Orientation informs your child on wellness etiquette and age guidelines. Participants in the 10-12 age range are allowed to use the Wellness Center (excludes free weight area) under the supervision of a parent/guardian while participants in the 13-14 age range may workout independently.

Get Started at the Y

Learn the operations of the Wellness Center as well as instruction on how to use the cardio and strength training equipment with safe and proper technique. Your meeting may also include a fitness assessment of taking measurements and discussing your goals to become healthy. Ask the Welcome Center about how to make your appointment. FREE for members.

Child Watch

Ages: 6 weeks to age 12
Days: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
Hours: 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.

The NW Gibson County YMCA offers Child Watch to its Household members. Parents can enjoy a worry free workout while their children are supervised by a caring and experienced child care staff. All staff are background checked and drug screened. A minimum of 2 staff are present at all times with your children.

Since we are not a licensed daycare, we cannot change diapers. Staff will find the parent if a child’s diaper needs to be changed Due to so many allergies, please leave snacks at home. If we are doing a specialsnack, we will let you know. If you are dropping off a sippycup or bottle, please label with your child’s name.

The YMCA is not responsible for lost or damaged items.

We want to do our best to decrease the spread of germs, so we wipe down all toys after each day. Help us reduce sickness by allowing your child to be fever/diarrhea free for at least 24 hours before returning to Child Watch.

New Child Life Jacket Policy

Pool Safety

The Y takes the safety of children very seriously, therefore we have implemented a new Child Life Jacket Policy.

• Patrons who do not pass the swim test are considered non-swimmers.

• Patrons who decline to take the swim test are considered non-swimmers.

• Non-swimmers must stay in shallow water (armpit-depth or less) and require active adult supervision.

• Active adult supervision means an adult must be in the water within arm’s reach at all times.

• Non-swimmers who do not meet the “armpit-depth” guideline are required to wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved personal flotation device (PFD) and require active adult supervision.

For more information view the FAQ and see examples of U.S. Coast Guard approved personal flotation devices (PFD).

Youth Development Update

We currently have 77 children enrolled in our Before and After School Care. Our Y Winter Break Holiday Camp was a great success. Our theme was Polar Express, and the kids really enjoyed Pajama day, drinking hot chocolate, and building their own Polar Express Train!
