Memorial Day Special

No Joining Fee For Veterans
May 28, 2018

This Memorial Day we’re waiving the joining fee for any Veteran interested in becoming a member of the YMCA. Come to any of our Memphis & Mid-South locations on May 28th and show your Military ID to pay no joining fee (a value of up to $75) when signing up for a new YMCA Membership.

Summer Group Swim Lessons

At the Y, we believe that the ability to swim is a critical life skill for every child, teen, and adult. In group swim lessons, we use a variety of fun methods to help kids overcome fears, build confidence in the water, and develop skills that last a lifetime. Qualified instructors meet kids at their own level, help families set achievable goals, and celebrate success together. Swim lessons are taught using the YMCA of the USA progressive swim lesson guidelines.

Session Dates

Summer Session 1: June 4 – June 14
Summer Session 2: June 18 – June 28
Summer Session 3: July 2 – July 12
Summer Session 4: July 16 – July 26

Fee: $60 Members $100 Nonmembers
A session includes 8 lessons; 30min each for Preschool & 45min each for Youth & Adult

Time:

Preschool: 12:00pm – 12:30pm & 4:30pm – 5:00pm
Youth: 12:45 – 1:30pm & 5:15 – 5:45pm
Teen & Adult: 6:00pm – 6:45pm

Facility Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

In honor of Memorial Day, YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South branches will have abbreviated hours of 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 28th. The Sweeney YMCA will be closed.

We hope you’ll take a moment to spend time with friends and family and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA

TAKING ACTION. CHANGING ODDS.

LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is a small-group program that helps adult cancer survivors reclaim their health and well-being following a cancer diagnosis. Through this program YMCAs are creating communities among cancer survivors and guiding them through safe physical activity, helping them build supportive relationships, and reducing stress – leading to an improved quality of life.

Upcoming Sessions:

Session 2: June 5 – August 23
Tuesdays/Thursdays – 8:00 a.m. – 9:15 a.m.

Session 3: July 9 – September 26
Mondays/Wednesdays – 1:00 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.

Session 4: August 20 – November 8
Mondays/Thursdays – 10:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.

Location: The YMCA at Schilling Farms
1185 Schilling Blvd. E, Collierville, TN 38017

Duration: 12 weeks

Cost: Free of Charge

The program consists of group exercise using cardio equipment and strength training machines, guest speakers, and more, all in a support group atmosphere. The program is open to the public and will be free of charge.

To become a part of this session participants need to be 18 years old and up. Participants with any type of cancer are welcome. They may be going through treatments or not — may even be long time cancer survivor that needs help getting back to their normal life.

Y Achievers

The Y Achievers program is an academic achievement/career development initiative purposed to help youth and teens set and pursue high educational goals. Our ultimate goal is to prepare youth for life beyond high school by providing developmentally based mentorship and workshop activities designed to give 6th – 12th grade students the tools they need to succeed in school, college, life and beyond. The Y Achievers Program operates within five core competencies which are: Academics, College Knowledge, Positive Relationships, Life Skills and Positive Identity. These five pillars serve to strengthen the Y’s foundation to maximize impact. Achiever success in these five areas are measured by GPA, high school graduation, college completion and self-surveys in the areas of relationships, life skills and identity.

Our objectives are to:

• Help achievers view themselves in a positive way
• Raise academic standards
• Build character
• Show students various career options
• Have role models whose success and knowledge will help inspire and motivate
• Provide business and industry leaders the opportunity for community involvement

We offer leadership training seminars, college enrichment, community service projects and special events.

Swim Lessons

Schedule swim lessons around your schedule with a certified swim instructor. In private and semi-private lessons, our qualified instructors will work to meet your needs. All sessions include 4; 30 minute lessons.

Individual Private Lessons:
Member $80, Non-Member $100

Semi-Private Lessons (2-3 swimmers):
Member $45, Non-Member $65
